On May 28, 2007, I checked the web site feeds I subscribe to. Born in the Netherlands and living in Canada I was not fully aware that it was Memorial Day in the USA until I saw that LifeHacker announced it would be back the next day. I also saw Eric Mack’s short and to the point thank you.
As always this touches my heart and, yes, made me feel somewhat emotional. Lump in the throat, that kind of thing. I was born of parents who lived through the second World War and had it not been for thousands of allied forces, misery would still be upon us.
I’m so grateful for my freedom, for our freedom. I’m so grateful to those who lost their lives so I could be.
That got me thinking
about how many things I’m grateful for and how often I take the time to take at least a moment to reflect on them. It’s not that I never do. I’ve grown into a very positive man. I cannot take honor for that. It’s through Faith alone that I live the way I do.
Yet… I feel I can do more, be more.
As someone who works on the world wide web and loves to creates web sites I of course can’t do something simple like sit on the porch, stare ahead and reflect. Nope. I have to translate an idea like this into a web site. I also felt that one day, with enough content in place, someone might fall on it and take heart from it. And who knows (because, let’s be honest here) maybe some day some Amazon books will sell.
That all played and plays through my mind.
But most of all it’s about being grateful.
